Are you taking advantage of all the online resources available to you?
No matter what your small business does, making a strong online impression is necessary for today’s market. We’ve already discussed what makes a great website – now we’re going to talk about another trend: blogging.
Why should your small business have a blog?
Simple: it’s a low-cost (often free!) way of raising awareness, communicating with customers and employees, sharing your expertise, and transmitting news about your industry.
Keeping a blog updated is critical: you want to have at least one update per week so your readers always see something new. Here at Redwood, we update every weekday!
It’s also important to have interactive features within your blog articles: include links to other resources, open up a comments section, invite readers to submit their feedback, etc. Your fresh insight or well-informed advice could spark a conversation and increase respect for your business in the community.
If the idea of writing several paragraphs a week intimidates you, not to worry! Twitter is a great way to produce fresh content and you only have to write one sentence (the network allows 140 characters per post). Or you can set up a Facebook page (hopefully you have one already) with some pictures and frequent status updates.
A Local Media & Advertising research group, recently conducted a study that showed 48% of small and local businesses use Facebook as a marketing tool. 22% keep a blog, and 19% have a Twitter account – BIA|Kelsey study
