Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Search Engine OptimizationSEO means Search Engine Optimization, and it’s a big buzzword these days. But what does this have to do with your business? SEO can help you in lots of ways: it drives more traffic to your website, helps your business rank higher on Google searches, and allows you to analyze real results from a virtual world.

Search engines like websites that have both good quality and quantity of information. They look at the number of pages you have, how much information is on each page, how often you update, and how many times you use keywords (searchable terms) within the content of your website. Websites also have special tags (like labels) in their html code that help search engines understand what is on that specific page and what is most important. More than anything, Google needs to see that you are using the search words on the pages where you want to rank.  If you have a landscaping business and you want to rank well for “patios”, you should use the word “patio” on the page versus using words like “outdoor living space.” Google has trouble reading minds so it’s always important to use the works customer will use in searching.

A big part of your web presence is how connected your site is within the web community. If you use Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, or any other social media for your business, all those profiles should have a link to your website. It’s also important to have other sites link to you – these could be partners in your industry, clients you’ve worked with, online publications, etc.

It’s important to know what you’re starting with before you can measure results! We start by setting up Google Analytics and evaluating your website to see if there are areas for improvement. By improving your website’s search engine rankings, we’ll drive more traffic to your site and more business to your door!
